So since I have this really strange desire to write a Sailor Moon Fan-Fiction (I'm not going to start writing it till next year) I have decided I will need to do a little reading before I can even think of witting it! I'm going to use the manga as reference since I really don't like the anime version. and thankfully the fan-fic I'm witting takes place before chibi-usa appearers, so that means a whole lot less reading for me! ^_^
but yeah, I'm missing vol 1-3 so I had to go bid on them on ebay. then I also noticed I'm missing vol 2 & 4 of SuperS and vol 2 of StarS! so I've bidded on all of them on ebay, expect vol 4 of SurperS since I could find that. instead I'm getting that one off of amazon.com from one of their vendors.
so on ebay I'm currently spending (not including shipping) $16.79. not bad considering I'm bidding on 4 books and I'm sure theses things sold for at least $8 at one time. it might of been $10 since that seems to be the going rate for manga here, but I'm not sure.
it's kind of odd that they don't have these things in the books stores any more. I mean, I see much older series that are being republished in stores, like Battle Angel Alita. That was one of the first manga that I've seen in book stores before they had their own section.
you know, I wonder if they are going to translate the new version? it was released in Japan a while back with new cover art, extra scenes and some new art as well. I was thinking about buying a copy, but then I thought 'you know, the only thing I can do it look at it. I already own the manga in English so what would be the point of buying it all over again when I can't even read it?' normally I'd just buy it any way, but Sailor Moon is a freaking long series! and even though they sell for only $5 each at Japan Town that's still a lot when you have to buy all of them. I think there's something like 12 vols, maybe more. I think there's more...
but any way, hopefully I'll win all the bids! ^__^
EDIT :
I just found this HERE
"As of October 2005, all of the Sailor Moon manga trade paperbacks are now out of print as a result of an ongoing licensing dispute between Naoko Takeuchi and TOEI Studio. TOKYOPOP has expressed interest in re-releasing the Sailor Moon manga with a more accurate translation and uniform format, but as of this date are unable to do so until current disputes between Naoko Takeuchi and TOEI Studio is resolved."
